Youth Activities

THE DROP IN is the Youth Club for 10-16 year olds and is held at the Tylorstown Sports Centre on Monday nights between 8 - 9 p.m. There are lots of activities on offer such as pool, board games, crafts, music and five-a-side football, basketball, badminton etc., in the main sports hall where you can really work off your energy!

IT'S ALL THE R.A.G.E. !

R.A.G.E.  Friday Night Youth Group. This stands for:

 Remodelling A Generation for Eternity

Friday: 7.30 - 10p.m. Youth Group targetting the year 9 and above age group (13-17 year olds).

Teenagers have use of Playstations, TV/CD players, table tennis, pool, table football, as well as various card and board games.

On average, between 40-50 youngsters attend every week and thoroughly enjoy the activities.

If you are a teenager with nothing to do in a Friday night, please come along and join us. We'd love to see you!

The group is run by a team of both voluntary and paid youth workers, which includes three of the Sporting Marvels Team.

The aim of the group is for the youth workers to create relationships with the teenagers and to become positive Christian role models for them. This is achieved by the teenagers and youth workers partaking in the activities listed above (on an informal basis), as well as specifically organised activities and group games.

On average, 3 weeks out of 4 a presentation is given on various topics relevant to teenage life, which is aimed to challenge them to consider the ways in which they think about themselves, about others and about God. Often the presentation includes a time of discussion where the larger group is split into smaller groups to encourage discussion and provoke thought about the issues being dealt with. Each small group is overseen by a youth worker.

As well as the presentations are 'socials', 'excursions' and 'guest speaker nights'. The social events and trips are aimed purely at having fun and building upon the relationships. The teenagers are encouraged to undertake some of the organisation for the excursions, with a view to developing administration skills for those who are interested.

The guest nights are a chance for the teenagers to have a change of voice and perspective from an individual or group not directly associated with the Youth Group.

THE GOALS OF R.A.G.E. ARE:

  • To establish friendships with the teenagers through contact with them at church, school or other organised activities.
  • To encourage the teenagers to reach their full potential in all aspects of their lives.
  • To communicate with them the teachings of God in His word, the Bible.
  • To provide an opportunity for the teenagers to reach out to less fortunate people in their own communities as well as those further afield.
